Reclaiming Existence speaks to identity and questions the pressure that comes with belonging to a culture that is living in exile. Like a lobby as a space of constant transition, the Hmong continue to adapt to new environments and create spaces that allow growth. The installation consists of patterns referencing Hmong textiles that slowly disappears, which alludes to the impermanence of lived experience. Reclaiming Existence presents an example of the fragility of life, and hopes to mark a place to reclaim the existence of the Hmong people.
